Keith Schilling and Calvin Wolter, Iowa Geological Survey. We evaluated variables
such as precipitation, soils, geology, land use and basin characteristics to
predict average streamflow, baseflow, stormflow and baseflow percentage in
gauged and ungauged streams in Iowa. Spatial distribution of streamflow and
baseflow showed remarkable alignment with ecoregion boundaries. The regression
model for Q was combined with mean NO3 concentration data to assess regional
patterns of potential nitrate export in the state.
