Bob has worked with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources-Geological Survey since 1982. His work at the survey has involved a wide range of geologic, hydrologic, land use, and water-quality studies. In addition, he has provided technical assistance water resources, water quality, waste disposal, and environmental geology to state and local governments, and to Iowa citizens and businesses. He has degrees in Geology from the University of Wisconsin at Superior and Indiana University. In 1999 he became supervisor of the Surveys groundwater and environmental geology program, and in 2002 was appointed State Geologist.
