Women Managing Horses

October 29, November 5, November 12 and November 19, 2020

A four-session online course focusing on equine management decisions.

The Women Managing Horses program will be presented as a synchronous online program. Participants will be able to interact with the speakers. Resources, and the recorded presentations will be available for participants. 

Whether women just want to learn more about Iowa’s equine industry, or need to find more profitability from their equine business, this course offers something for everyone. Sessions cover feed, labor, facility and risk protection decisions. In addition, managing land, water and manure resources will be discussed. Women will discuss the challenges in bringing horses to market and calculate the true costs of production. Along the way, women will access importance resources and network with other women seeking to start or grow their horse business. Tools and resources will be provided to help women consider important management decisions. Women of all ages and experience levels will benefit from the course.

The outcome is designed to allow women to manage financial, marketing and production risks of their horse businesses leading to better business outcomes; which contributes to stronger rural economies, improved land management, and equine welfare.

Program begins at 6:00 PM and concludes at 9:00 PM.


This webinar series is delivered through Zoom. You do not need a Zoom account to join the webinars. Requirements are a computer or mobile device with internet access, microphone and web camera. Attendees will verify attendance and participation thorugh microphone and video so these must be operational.

Computer - You may join the meeting through your web browser or the Zoom Client for Meetings desktop app, which is a free download.

Mobile device - Download and install the Zoom Mobile App from the app store for your device. This is a free app.

Please test hardware, software and internet connections prior to the first session at the Zoom Test Meeting website.
