Ag Chemical Dealer Updates deliver the latest crop production recommendations, news and information directly from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Meetings review the positives and negatives of the previous growing season and prepare seed, chemical and fertilizer dealers, crop consultants, farm managers and agronomists for the challenges of the crop production year ahead.

Continuing education

This meeting qualifies for the following Certified Crop Adviser continuing education credits: 0.5 crop management, 1.0 nutrient management and 4.0 pest management (includes optional applicator training session).

Pesticide applicator recertification

For Commercial Pesticide Applicators in categories 1A, 1B and 1C this meeting qualifies at a continuing instructional course for calendar year 2021. To receive recertification applicators must attend the entire meeting. Recertification is included in the meeting registration fee.

10:00 Corn rootworm management updates for 2022 and beyond – Erin Hodgson, professor and extension entomologist, Entomology, Iowa State University (1.0 PM)
11:00 Activity rotations begin
Participants will break into three groups and rotate through activity stations.
  Activity A: Fungicide label walk-through and sprayer calibration discussion for disease management with fungicide application – Virgil Schmitt, extension field agronomist (1.0 PM)
  Activity B: Pesticide mixing order and incompatibility activity using herbicide application as example – Rebecca Vittetoe, extension field agronomist (1.0 PM)
  Activity C: Improving the agronomics and practical application of dry fertilizer – Ryan Bergman, technical project specialist, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and Clarabell Probasco, extension field agronomist (1.0 NM)
